How this site works and how we make money

We publish buying guides, example prices and free tools to prepare requests and compare quotes. We are not a drainage contractor, and these pages are not a professional assessment of your property.

You can use the guidance without giving us contact details. We do not book inspections or automatically pass details to contractors.

• Firms’ own websites for their advertised prices and services.

Links and check dates are available with the guides. Rules can differ between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, so we identify the area a source covers.

Your answers choose from a set of prepared checklists. The tool cannot inspect drains or interpret a report. If an answer is uncertain, it points you towards checking the requirement before booking.

The quote comparison calculates prices from the amounts and VAT you enter. It highlights missing details and keeps quotes in the order you entered them; it does not rate contractors.

Automated tools help us draft and check the website. They are not evidence for a drainage claim. Changes need review before publication.

We keep the advertised service, VAT, conditions and source date with each example. We do not turn a starting price into a fixed quote or claim the examples represent a UK average.

DrainSurveyCost does not currently earn money from drainage firms. No firm pays for a place in our price examples, checklists or guides. The directory links are places to start looking, not recommendations of individual contractors.

If we introduce referral arrangements, we will explain the firms and fees before asking for permission to share your details.
